Most recently, Jon took a leave of absence from New Leaders while co-chairing the Obama for America's education policy committee, serving on the Presidential Transition Team and serving as Senior Advisor to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Before founding New Leaders in 2000, Jon had served as special assistant to Secretary of Education Richard Riley and as Senior Adviser on education to former Vice President Al Gore. He and his wife Elisa have two children.
