Kevin Mitchell is a Wyoming native. All of his public education career has been in Wyoming. Taught and coached at the middle school level. Middle school principal for 3 years. Beginning his 9th year as a superintendent of schools. Past president of the Wyoming High School Activities Association. Past president of the Wyoming Association of School Administrators. 2009 Wyoming superintendent of the year. Governing Board member for the American Association of School Administrators and member of the Children, Equity and Excellence Advisory Committee for the American Association of School Administrators. Member of the superintendent peer work group for Ready by 21.

RE: What Are The Best Methods For School Improvement?

  There is research available on the effects of leadership on improving student achievement. School and district leadership can have a positive impact on student achievement. Schools that develop improvement plans that include the use of quality data and actually implement the plan can increase the performance of the school. The responsibility does not fall on the math, reading and writing faculty. It takes a concerted effort by all staff members to implement the improvement plan. RE: Do Schools Need Independent Auditors?

  An independent auditor may be able to provide a more accurate analysis of test scores.  However, only local, state and federal school agencies and policy makers look at the data. Most parents or students do not pay any attention to the massive amounts of student data that is collected by school districts. The data should be used by the consumer.
